The Learner Gang

A Helping Hand For New Motorcyclists

Image
Here's a little story about a good idea between college friends in Swindon, which shows how things can gain a momentum of their own! Starting out with just one group, then spreading gradually across the UK and now branching out into Europe, this idea for new motorcyclists is taking wing – or rather wheels!

Motorcycling has been on the rise for some years now, and particularly since Covid 19 as people have realised just how safe, socially distanced, economical, practical and fun it is! There are a lot more people taking their test and buying a bike at the moment, who have never ridden a motorcycle before and The Learner Gang looks like a great idea to give them a heads up about motorcycling.
The Learner Gang is a community support group specifically designed for motorcyclists, with the aim of helping new riders get to know the ropes of motorcycling by passing on knowledge and tips and offering support to new riders. It was the brainchild of Llewellyn Jones and his friend Connor Rose, who started motorcycling and helping each other out with advice and ideas when they were new riders and they quickly gathered friends who were in the same position.
The group snowballed as new riders appeared and joined having spotted them on Instagram, and new team leaders started up local groups in other areas. Now The Learner Gang is growing and going from strength to strength.

Founder member Llewellyn says about the group: 'My childhood dream was always to run a bike group. Now having a bikers' community group and riding around with more bikes in front and behind me is just the greatest feeling. I can't stop my self from smiling in my helmet.'
