Project Harley Sportster (part five)

How it is recovering after a breakdown

John has been working on his Harley Sportster again - here is the latest stage in its evolution...

He rode it down to the Fleet Lions Run in Hampshire on Mayday bur sadly the tinkering had unforeseen consequences and his Sportster broke down - right in the middle of the gathered motorcycles - quite embarrassing, but on the positive side, everyone liked how it looked!

Don't worry it's going again now! So the improvements have continued...

He has lowered the headlight and mounted a screen

He's put in a new dashboard which involved rewiring the speedo and warning lights.

The tools he got helped a lot as did the shrink wraps to add that professional look!

After the breakdown at Fleet he fitted a new regulator after a thorough check of the manual of course. It was quite easy to test.

He fitted a new belly pan as well.

And then...next time

Next on the list is to cut the rear fender, mount a Lucas-style rear light, then strip all paint work down - quite a lot to do still but it will all be worth it in the end...

What do you think of it so far - is the work he's done an improvement?
