New And Old Motorcycle Charities Pitching In To Help Everyone Out

Image
We would like to pay tribute to all the motorcycle volunteers out there doing as much as they can to keep the NHS and the country safe and running. Here are just a couple of examples, but there are many more out there.

Serv or Service by Emergency Rider Volunteers is the name of the blood bike charities which provide an essential service delivering: blood products, samples, patient notes, scans, drugs, medical equipment, vaccines and other medical essentials. They support hospitals, hospices and air ambulances by taking what they need, to where it's wanted as fast as they can. This charity has been running for years now with all the SERV volunteers using their own motorcycles and paying for their own fuel and phones, charging no expenses, thus saving the NHS thousands of pounds every year. They are working flat out now during the current pandemic to do as much as they can to help and ease the burden on the NHS. SERV riders are also associated with the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes (NABB) who deliver long-distance anywhere in the country that it is required.

Helping Hands On Two Wheels

Lots of other motorcyclists have got together and formed local groups all over the country too, to provide assistance to people who are vulnerable and are shielding or self isolating at home by delivering shopping and essentials. This is saving people from having to go out and risk exposure to the virus. For example the Bodmin Bikers in Cornwall, amongst many others.

We would like to know if you already belong to a motorcycle charity group, or have you joined, or know of  any during this pandemic? If you do then we'd love to hear about what you're doing. Please email any pictures or stories to us at: [email protected] and we'll put it on our news and facebook page.

A Clap On The Back!

Our Thursday clapping is for all motorcyclists who are out there on the front line helping, as well as all the carers, nhs staff and others up against it right now!

Thank you all!
