A New Name For Honda's Pint Sized Classic - The MSX125 Grom

Around in Europe since 2013, the MSX125 is the descendant of those 1960s mini superheroes the Monkey bike, the Dax and the Ape. Well it's back in a slightly new incarnation, the MSX125 Grom - its names amalgamated into one - now it's double barrelled! It has a new look and a new engine too to match its new name, and it will be here in 2021.

What's In A Name?
The MSX125 was the little bike's European moniker but elsewhere it was called the Grom so Honda have just combined the two into an easy to remember MSX125 Grom so it can be recognised worldwide. Already a firm favourite the diminutive Grom (a surfer name) has notched up sales of over 750,000 bikes since its arrival, so they must be doing something right.

It now comes with a new  7.2kW air-cooled engine which offers great performance, especially with the addition of a 5th gear for riding out of town. It is a versatile little bike with a responsive chassis, 31mm USD forks, 12 in wheels and front and rear disc brakes - all mod cons you might say.  Like its bigger brothers, it has a digital dash now with a rev-counter and gear position indicator.

Probably the biggest change is the new look. It sports a new sleek LED headlight, really compact side panels and tank covers and a pared down seat unit and subframe. For that added bling factor it has gold forks and brake calipers and yellow rear suspension. Added to that is its easy-change quick release bodywork which leaves the field open for customisation so owners can make it truly their own.

All in all it's a really fun, cool little ride which makes a big statement despite its stature. We are Grom fans and the new name makes more sense than two names in different places for the same bike!
