Following the success and obvious good times had by all, on Long Way Down and Long Way Round, famous duo and fast friends Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman have been off on their motorcycle travels again. This time with a difference – on electric Harley Davidson LiveWires.

The trip took them three months, covering 13,000 miles from the off in Ushuaia, on the southern tip of Argentina, to Los Angeles and taking in 13 countries and 16 border crossings en route. Sound like fun?

Charging Forward
This trip has presented significant challenges for the two men who are older now than in their previous exploits and Charley has suffered from two motorcycle accidents in recent years, but they were undeterred. They were more than determined to make the trip on electric motorcycles, but the bikes themselves are still in development and are in the prototype stage meaning that to complete their target of 180 miles a day, their motorcycles needed to be charged twice.

Even in the most electrified cities the charging infrastructure is not fully up and running and in South and Central America it can be hard to find, so every day presented a new challenge of not only riding the motorcycles and covering the distance through unfamiliar terrain, but finding charging points in time.

Anyway whatever their trials, tribulations and sheer good fun, the motorcycle story makes for an interesting watch and the series starts this Friday September 18th on Apple TV+ with the subsequent episodes airing every Friday.
